The AFP (Advanced Function Printing) format was originally developed by IBM as a print data stream that is particularly suitable for mass printed matter. Since about 2004, the AFP Consortium initiated by IBM has been taking care of the further development of this format, which is widely used in the mass printing sector.
A special AFP-Viewer is required for on-screen display of AFP data streams. The Serie M/ offers AFP as an optional output format and M/View for AFP is included with this function module. The in-house developed AFP-Viewer can display AFP print data streams, and provides basic document editing functions (delete elements, reorder, etc.).
In addition, it was designed as a standalone tool and can be used standalone (without Serie M/) under Windows to view
and edit any AFP data streams.
Note: You may specify the Java version to be used when starting the viewer, in case you have several versions installed on your system. To do so, pass the parameter
“-vm “ (e.g. afpviewer.exe -vm “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-11.0.16.1\bin”) when calling the program.
